Additional Information: | ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE: Good example of typical double flat of this date with integrity of form. Note Palladian motif surround around recessed gable window, and unusual 2 story corner bay. Construction date, 1899. (1) Frank Hunholz, Carpenter. (2) William Dallmann, Mason. (2) Frank Hunholz, Original Owner, 1899. (2) Resurveyed March 2017; subsequent changes include the removal of the previous faux-brick siding and the addition of vinyl screen doors. This 2 ½ story Queen Anne house was constructed in 1899 following a design by architect F.W. Andree. It is rectangular in plan with clapboard walls and an asphalt-shingled gable roof. The front elevation faces west and is asymmetrical in plan with a 2-story bay window at the southwest corner. A flat-roofed front porch spans the remainder of the façade. The porch has narrow columnar supports that rest on concrete block piers. Inside the porch are two single doorways and a picture window with transom. Festoon detailing is located along the porch cornice. A modern metal railing is located along the porch roof to create a second-story balcony. Within the balcony are a single doorway and a picture window with transom. The attic level of the house overhangs the lower stories with decorative modillions located along the overhang. The wall inside the gable is clad in wood shingles and contains two 1-over-1 windows recessed under a Palladian-inspired surround that repeats the festoon motif of the front porch. |
