TALLMAN WAS AN ATTORNEY. DESIGN IS ATTRIBUTED TO FRANK KEMP ACCORDING TO THE ROCK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY. THIS TWO-STORY STUCCO HOUSE JAS A LOW-PITCH HIP ROOF, ROOF DORMER, AND SYMMETRICAL FACADES. BUILT IN ABOUT 1915 FOR STANLEY TALLMAN, AN ATTORNEY. THE HOUSE AT 430 N. JACKSON (AHI #11813) WAS BUILT AT THE SAME TIME. BOTH HOUSES WERE BUILT ON THE SOUTH LAWN OF THE ORIGINAL TALLMAN PROPERTY (AHI #11881).

"This pair of Tallman family houses built on the south lawn of the original Tallman property are representative of a style popular in the midwest prior to World War I. Prairie School ideas such as broad overhanging eaves, a stucco exterior with restrained ornament, and a horizontal emphasis achieved by the use of belt courses and grouped windows are characteristics of residences associated with Frank Lloyd Wright and his followers." THE LOOK WEST HISTORIC DISTRICT, PREPARED BY LANDSCAPE RESEARCH FOR THE JANESVILLE HISTORIC COMMISSION, JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN 1987.
