Additional Information: | Chas. Kindt was the builder. Chas. Tempelmann was the mason. Bethlehem Lutheran is a fine example of late 19th century Cream City brick churches. Its single spire facade is influenced by German country edifices. No original building permit. Bethlehem Evangelical was organized by families who split from Trinity Lutheran (9th and Highland). Their first church was built in 1888. In 1898 it was moved to the rear 30 feet, enlarged, transepts added, and encased with brick veneer. A parsonage was constructed in 1889. The school located at 2466 W. McKinley was built over a period of time from 1883-1956. |
