Additional Information: | This plaque was laid in McCoy Memorial Park at the foot of a monument designed to resemble a WWI foot soldier (doughboy). Both the park and plaque were originally intended to honor Gen. Robert McCoy, a veteran of the Spanish-American War and WWI. The plaque displays his dates of service (1898; 1917-1918) and reads "MCCOY PARK/Sponsored by/American Legion and/ Spanish War Veterans/DEDICATED/to the/DEAD SOLDIER." An inscribed ribbon along the top of the plaque bears the dates of 1898 and 1917-1918. |
