NOTES
Additional Information:The Sacred Heart Church is a large one-story late Gothic Revival style church building designed by noted La Crosse architects Parkinson and Dockendorff. The building has a gable roof with a parapet along the front elevation. A parapet also decorates the projecting entry pavilion. At the northeast corner is a large square tower with a hip roof and very shallow pilasters. Shallow pilasters also decorate the brick side walls of the building. The entry pavilion is also decorated with details that suggest battlements and a large rose window. A gothic arch and pilasters decorate the main entrance.

This fine design, also significant as the work of noted architects, represents an almost stylized version of the style, certainly very modern in its interpretation, even for 1919-1920, when standard Gothic Revival churches were also popular. The corner tower and large rose window give the building an almost Romanesque treatment, but the main details strongly suggest the Gothic Revival. The church building has a high level of integrity and has been well preserved. It is a landmark building in Cashton and the area.
