Additional Information: | This highly intact university dormitory complex consists of a commons and three dormitory towers, the tallest of which is 28-stories-tall and is among the tallest building in Milwaukee. The name commemorates the poet Carl Sandburg, who lived in Milwaukee for a while. This complex is of architectural significance because of its design, which has towers that are constructed out of poured-in-place ribbed concrete, and because they represent the solution to the University's need to house a large number of students on an urban campus that has very limited acreage on which to build. dormitory |
