Sold to Gustave and Ruby Malme.

South Side Historic District Walking Tour Guide, 1993: "This Tudor style building was constructed as a photographic studio by Bernard LaMarche. He built the house behind it (216 Seventeenth Street) at the same time, where he lived with his wife, Augusta. The studio is simpler in detail than his house; it has more conventional and straight-lined Tudor parapets at the ends of its gables, while the house behind has fancier shaped Flemish parapets. Both buildings were given a slightly Mediterranean look by their roofs of rounded red tiles. Mr. La Marche did not operate his studio for long. He lived at 216 Seventeenth until 1918, but by 1916 he had rented this building and later sold it to Gustave Malme and his wife, Ruby. The Malmes lived at 1645 and Gustave operated his own photographic studio at 1647 Wisconsin until 1939."
