NOTES
Additional Information:THIS IMMENSE, TWO AND A HALF-STORY RESIDENCE WAS BUILT IN 1900. IT FEATURES RED BRICK FOUNDATIONS, A STUCCO EXTERIOR AND A GAMBREL ROOF. INTERSECTING ROOFS CREATE A CROSS GAMBREL FORM WITH OPEN GABLE ENDS, ONTO WHICH WERE PLACED WOOD SHIGLES IN THE ATTIC STORY. SITUATED ON THE FACADE, ALSO IN THE ATTIC STORY, IS A PALLADIAN MOTIF WINDOW WITH AN ELABORATE MOLDING. THE BUILDING WAS ORIGINALLY LOCATED AT 1733 S. WISCONSIN AVENUE, BUT WAS MOVED TO ITS CURRENT SITE AT 1730 S. WISCONSINS AVENUE IN 1928. THE DESIGN OF THIS HOUSE IS ATTRIBUTED TO ARCHITECT Lambert Bassindale. (SEE BIB. REF. A). It was built by Arthur and Mary Huguenin. "Mr.Huguenin was a corporate officer of the Wisconsin Electric Company. Four years after his death in 1923, Mary sold the house to Herbert F. Johnson. It was moved across the street in 1928 and became the house of Herbert F. Johnson, Jr. and his family until 1935, when they moved to The Homstead and later to Wingspread."
