Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Washington Avenue Residential Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 2015- "This two-story, buff brick, Prairie-style duplex was constructed in 1927. It has a rectilinear footprint, hipped roof, and asymmetrical facade. A two story bay projects from facade. The first story windows on the bay consist of a band of four stained glass double hung units under a segmental arch with a large transom. These are flanked by two taller double hung stained glass units under round arches with stained glass arched transoms. The six windows share a continuous concrete sill. The second story windows on this section are wood casements with stained glass. They are arranged in the same configuration as the first story windows, but do not feature arches or transom windows. A continuous concrete sill joins the second story windows. Other window types include double hung and casement units, some with stained or leaded glass lights. These are arranged in a pair on the west half of the facade's second story, and placed in a variety of configurations on the other elevations. All windows include concrete sills. A one story open entry porch is recessed under a brick arch adjacent to the west side of the bay. The porch has a flat roof with a shaped parapet. The porch shelters the two duplex entrances, which consist of arched glazed doors under brick arches. A single story garage is attached to the south side of the duplex. It has a hipped roof and is clad with the same buff brick as the duplex. The vehicular bays feature wood paneled garage doors with a string of windows." - "Washington Ave (STH 20), Roosevelt Ave to West Blvd", WISDot #2440-09-00, Prepared by Shelley Greene (2015). |
