Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Washington Avenue Residential Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Resurveyed 2015. 2015- "This two-story, brick American Foursquare house was constructed in 1917. It has a rectilinear footprint that includes a one story open front porch spanning the width of the facade. The porch has a flat roof with wide eaves that is supported by battered columns on brick posts. Between the posts is a wood railing that extends past the porch deck to the ground. The roof of the house is hipped with wide overhanging eaves. The facade slope is pierced by a hip dormer with clapboard sheathed walls. All of the roof slopes are sheathed in asphalt shingles. The exterior walls of the house and foundation are clad in brick, with a water table dividing the first story from the foundation. Windows on the house are wood framed and feature concrete sills, as well as concrete lintels on the first story. The majority of windows are three-over-one wood sashes. These are placed singly in most places, except east of the front door on the facade's first story where they are a string of three. A box bay window is located on the east elevation. It has a half hipped roof and a string of three four-light wood windows. Also associated with this property is a one story garage southeast of the house." - "Washington Ave (STH 20), Roosevelt Ave to West Blvd", WISDot #2440-09-00, Prepared by Shelley Greene (2015). |
