Additional Information: | 2000/2001 A ca. 1920s enclosed porch extends from the main block and along the ell wing to the west. A large ca. 1870s side-gable bank barn stands to the northwest of the house, while a 1950s rainbow-roof addition extends from its western facade. A combination poured-concrete/cement-stave silo with a metal cap is just to its south. Directly behind the residence is a ca. 1860s, side-gable, fieldstone smokehouse with thick mortar joints. A modern garage is situated further north of the house. Historic plat maps show that a structure owned by R. Wilson was on the property as early as 1862. The fieldstone outbuilding and the residence were likley constructed during Wilson's tenure. The bank barn appears to date to 1870s. The property eventually passed to Fred Fuch by 1875, E. Bocher in 1889, and Conrad Leiberstein by 1902. William Pfeiffer obtained the parcel no later than 1916. The Pfeiffer family owned the property until at least 1950. No biographical information was uncovered regarding the previous owners. Therefore, with the exception of the smokehouse, the remainder of the farmstead consists of standard, undistinguished outbuildings, which do not suggest potential as a historic farm complex. |
