Additional Information: | 2000/2001: No later than 1875, M. Fitzpatrick purchased a 117.41 acre parcel of land from T.W. Chambers, at which time Fitzpatrick most likely built the subject residence. An 1889 plat indicates that the property passed onto the Fitzpatrick Brothers, who were noted as farmers and stock raisers. Therefore, a P. Fitzpatrick occupied the property into at least the early 1940s. Preliminary historical research revealed no evidence to substantiate Register potential for this property under either Criterion A or B. Although retaining its original sheathing and fenestration, the subject late-1870s residence is vernacular in form and offers no distinguishing characteristics that might otherwise suggest its eligibility under Criterion C. Regarding the farmstead's eligibility as a whole, the outbuildings, most specifically the bank barn, are in a state of deterioration. Furthermore, there is no evidence of its eligibility in regard to farmstead layout. |
