NOTES
Additional Information:April 2001-The Soldier and Sailor Monument was erected in 1924. It is a tall, obelisk of smooth stone set on a stone plinth. The obelisk was the most popular type of monument inspired by the Egyptian Revival style and was particularly favored for war memorials. On the east face of the obelisk (overlooking Algoma Boulevard), an inscription reads: TO THE SOLDIER AND SAILOR DEAD OF THE SPANISH-AMERICAN AND WORLD WARS FROM THE CITIZENS OF OSHKOSH 1924. The Soldier and Sailor Monument marks a plot set side for veterans of those two wars.
