NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. November 2001-The Living Hope Community Church was erected as the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church in 1904 (cornerstone). It is a tall, frame Neo-Gothic Revival building finished with clapboards and resting on a concrete block foundation. The church is rectangular in plan, with a broad, front-facing gable and a square corner tower. A small, front-gabled, enclosed entry porch is located at the base of the tower. A flight of concrete stairs rises to a pair of wood doors, surmounted by a gothic-arched transom that holds leaded glass. Gothic-arched windows with leaded glass are regularly-distributed on each of the facades. Each has a drip molding. The east-facing (front) façade displays two Gothic-arched windows surmounted by a large, leaded-glass rose window. A small quatrefoil window is found high in the gable end.

Statement of Significance: A group of Welsh immigrants began holding religious services in their homes in Randolph in the 1850s. In 1859, they bought an old school building for worship. They erected a small sanctuary in Randolph in 1860. In 1868, the group organized as the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church (a Presbyterian affiliate). The existing Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church was built in 1904. Services were conducted in Welsh until 1947. Shortly thereafter, the Welsh Presbyter (a statewide organization) became part of the Presbyterian Church of the U.S.A. At that time, the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist Church became Bethany Presbyterian Church. As late as 1970, this church still belonged to the Bethany Presbyterian congregation.
