A general practitioner, he practiced medicine in Hales Corners from 1929 until his retirement in 1964. During the same period, he served as health commissioner in Franklin, as well as intermittently serving in the same capacity in Oak Creek, Hales Corners and Greenfield. Affiliated with the Lutheran Hospital of Milwaukee and St. Luke's Hospital, Dr. Wolf was a captain in the Army Medical Corps during WWII.
Dr. Wolf and his wife Olivia had the subject house built circa 1940. In addition to serving as their residence, an office for emergency services was located in the basement, although Dr. Wolf's primary office was located in the Godsell Building (5855 S. 108th Street, Hales Corners, WHPD #8789). Following the death of Olivia, Dr. Wolf remarried and, in the mid- to late-1950s, he and his second wife, Marjorie, moved to 5513 S. 110th Street, Hales Corners. Dr. Wolf died in May 1972 and was survived by Marjorie. The subject residence was subsequently owned by Robert Scorgie from the late-1950s to the 1980s.
