Additional Information: | July 2002-This circa 1960s, aluminum sided motel consists of a two story, office/residence core and three one story, gabled wings. The main (north) façade carries an open, car canopy wing whose gabled endwall (north) is filled with open-sided, decorative concrete block. Meanwhile, the wings that extend from the east and west elevations of the main block are occupied by motel rooms. The end of each of these wings carries a short, perpendicular, gabled block that forms a T shape with the wing. Fenestration throughout consists of two over two, double hung sashes obscured by metal combination storm windows. The modern, metal, motel room doors are protected by metal storm doors. A modern sign stating #28;Germania Country Inn#29; is located at the front of the property adjacent to USH 14. An examination of telephone directories suggests that this motel was built sometime between 1957 and 1966 and originally was known as the Crestview Motel. It continued under that name until at least 1980. Today, it operates under the name Germania Country Inn and has 34 rooms. |
