Additional Information: | July-August 2001-This one and a half story, front gabled vernacular brick house displays a street facing gable end and a one-story shed roofed east side extension. A shingled gable roof with cornice returns in the gable end and segmental arched door and windows with one over one windows further characterize the house. The exterior of the house has been painted. This front gabled vernacular brick house was constructed before the First Sanborn Insurance Map of Fountain City was published in 1887. This 19th Century house does not meet the criteria for the National Register for architectural significance (Criterion C) because it is not a good example of its style or a significant example of a type of construction and it has lost historical integrity as well. The exterior of this house has been painted and the windows have been altered. |
