Additional Information: | July-August 2001-This two-story vernacular brick building is characterized by a molded brick cornice and round arched windows with brick window heads that are accented by keystones. A small, two-story brick building is attached to the south elevation. Contemporary storefronts characterize the lower story of the front elevation. A rear addition is attched to the rear of the main building. This vernacular brick commercial buildding was constructed in 1870 as a combination grocery and dry goods store. A saloon was housed in the small building attched to the south elevation. In the mid-20th century, these buildings housed a furniture store in the north store and a jewelry store occupied the south building. This vernacular brick commercial store building does not meet the criteria of the National Register (Criterion C) for architectural significance because it has lost considerable historic integrity. The exterior has been altered by the addition of contemporary materials to the lower story and the windows have been altered. |
