Additional Information: | The original farmstead was probably built by James Thurber (c.1870). According to tax rolls and pl;at maps the Thurber family occupied the land from 1865 to 1950. Additions to the house include a rear (east), one-story addition covered in asbestos (1940). Additional outbuildings include: wood outhouse(c.1870); three small wood front-gabled sheds topped with asphalt and metal (C.1870); large front-gabled wood barn(c.1870)with cement block foundation addition(c.1980);large metal machine shed(c.1980); large wood machine shed, topped with metal (c.1900); small modern garage covered in asbestos topped by asphalt(c.1960); cement block silo(c.1920). |
