ISAK DAHLE, AN INSURANCE MAN FROM CHICAGO AND MT. HOREB NATIVE, BOUGHT HAUGEN FARMSTEAD IN 1926. HE USED IT AS A SUMMER HOME AND CONVERTED THE OUTBUILDINGS TO COTTAGES. AFTER DAHLE'S DEATH IN 1937, HIS SISTER AND HER HUSBAND, ASHER HOBSON, ACQUIRED THE PROPERTY AND OPENED IT TO THE PUBLIC. THERE ARE OTHER REPRESENTATIVE NORWEGIAN BUILDINGS. |
