"The Peters Family Store is one of early brick buildings in historic downtown Mazomanie. Built by Charles Peters to serve as a meat market, the Peters family later made several frame additions to the rear. Another addition built in the alleyway between the Peter Building and the Vogel Building was first used as a newsstand.

Mrs. Peters opened an ice cream parlor in her building in the late 1870s. General merchandise, meats, and groceries were also sold from this store.

In recent years a teen center, bakery, shoe store, and cheese store have occupied the building. The second floor has been used as living space.

The original brick facade has recently been entirely covered with unfinished clapboard.

Born in Prussia, Charles and Fredricka Peters came to Mazomanie before 1857." Mazomanie Downtown Historic District, Mazomanie Historical Society, 1993.
