Additional Information: | This gabled ell house features details from the Queen Anne style and the Colonial Revival style. Built around 1890, it features the wood shingling and overall form and massing that suggests the Queen Anne style. The addition to the south ell, built around 1898, features a gambrel roof and round-arched "fanlight" style opening that suggests the Colonial Revival style. 2003- The original gabled ell section of the house was probably built around 1890 and was owned by P. Mueller. By 1915 the house was owned by Phillip Illian, who purchased the upper Kohlsville tavern in 1989 and moved into the house at that time. This house remained associated with subsequent owners of the tavern during the twentieth century. In 1915, William Bartlet purchased the tavern and later, the house. In 1943, Marie Marohl (Bartlet's daughter) acquired the house from her father. Marohl sold the house to the current owners in 1970. |
