Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. This is the old farmhouse on the Kohl Farmstead. It is a vernacular building with a side-gabled main block and small rectangular ell. It is covered with asphalt siding and its windows have been mostly replaced with twentieth century sashes. Its unusual form and massing suggests a half-timber structure, which would be appropriate for a German ethnic farm, however, further investigation is needed to verify this issue. It contributes to the significance of the Kohl Farmstead because it is a good example of an early farmhouse with many of its historic details intact. 2003- Attached to the southeast corner of the old house in a one-story addition that was used to milk house and probably added some time after 1893, when the new farmhouse was built and this house was converted into a storage building. |
