Additional Information: | This two-story house is largely side-gabled in form; however, the primary (west) elevation features a gabled wall dormer which is outlined by an overhanging roof that continues along the entire facade in a catslide fashion. An open, hipped-roof porch is situated off the northwestern corner of the house and a shed-roof, rectangular bay window with wooden bracket supports is located along the north elevation. Windows throughout the house are variously arranged and feature three-over-one-light sashes. A substantial, exterior brick chimney rises along the home's south elevation. Millen was an engineer at the powerhouse for the Northwestern Iron Company. In 1940, he served as an alderman for the city. After his death in 1968, his widow resided in the home until 1985. |
