Additional Information:Wells was a partner in the W.B. Place and Co. tannery with his half-brother, Warren B. Place, beginning in 1895. In 1926, Wells retired from business and sold his interest in the company to Place. He later served as a Washington Co. Board supervisor until his death in 1929. Jennie continued to live in this house until her death in 1941. Harry and Lora Mueller subsequently owned the property into the 1970s. Harry was employeed as a tanner with the W.B. Place and Co.
