Additional Information: | Heppe owned the Heppe Cash Store Co. This department store was established in 1891 and incorporated in 1901. By 1929, the store had 50 employees and gross sales of $1,000,000. He died that same year. Harry, his son, moved into this building in 1911 after his dad moved to 226 W. Sumner St. By 1940, Alfred and Carrie Emmer owned Harry's house. Alfred worked as a motor machinist and Carrie worked at the exchange/office of the Wisconsin Telephone Co. Colin and Edna Turnbull moved into the house in 1950 and lived there until the 1990s. Both worked at the Hartford Times-Press. |
