Additional Information: | 2024: This two-story Beaux Arts building was constructed in 1918 as the Libby, McNeill & Libby milk condensory. The building is rectangular in plan with a concrete foundation, red brick walls, and flat and gable roofs. The building is comprised of a central two-story, flat-roofed mass with one-story wings extending from the north and south elevations. The front elevation faces north and features a one-story gable-roofed wing spanning the first story of the central building mass; the wing features large pairs of simulated multi-pane windows along both of its side walls. The front elevation of the central two-story mass contains similar pairs of simulated multi-pane windows across its second story; these are separated by brick pilasters with decorative stone or terracotta medallions at the top of each. Rectangular tile panels are located above each pair of windows; additional rectangular tile panels are located just below the roofline, flanking a larger rectangular tile border that frames the building’s current signage. Tile coping runs along the front roofline of the two-story building mass. Similar windows, decorative detailing, and pilasters are located along the west, south, and east elevations of the two-story mass. The southern mass retains the original “Libby, McNeill & Libby” signage within the tile frame below the roofline. The building currently serves as a medical clinic. |
