Although the door and windows are Romanesque, the buttresses, pinnacles and spire are Gothic in design. In 1868 the present site was purchased. A public subscription was taken for the cost of the land and three-fourths of the townspeople who subscribed were non-Catholics.The church was constructed of Bedford limestone at a cost of $30,000."
