Additional Information: | This two-story building is clad in aluminum and stone. A roof overhang between the first and second stories is supported by a colonnaded porch along the north wall. The building's date, 1854-1923, is recorded on the roof parapet. A non-sympathetic addition has been appended to the south wall. The building has been modified numerous times. Deed records indicate Valentine Mengel owned this property as early as 1858. It was the site of a mill which was subsequently converted into a freight house that served the City of Fond du Lac. In 1888, the property was acquired by his son Peter, who in 1906 developed it as a tavern which he expanded in 1923. in 1936, ownership was transferred to Donald Triggs who operated it as the Sunset Supper Club. |
