DESCRIPTION
This frame construction gable ell house has a low-pitched intersecting gable roof, clapboard siding, and fieldstone foundation. The ell is considerably longer than most gable ells and is punctuated with numerous windows. They are small the upper level. On the lower level they are single-pane double-hung sashes topped with decorative cornice lintels. The entrance in the ell is similarly decorated. On the gable section is a bay window decorated with brackets, a shingled frieze, and elaborate lintels.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
This house was owned by Jacob Zaun between the time of its construction until 1865. In 1872 Jacob's son, A. A|Zqaun took over the property and remained there at least until 1880. Jacob and Christena Zaun came from Germany in 1840. A. Zaun was born in 1845. [h, p.756]
