Hadler purchased the existing harness shop at this location in 1893, from Henry Geidel, the from whom Hadler reportedly learned the harness trade. An historic photograph of the earlier harness shop shows that it was a front-gabled structure with a stepped and peaked false parapet front and was sheathed with drop siding.
"O.Hadler" is inscribed in the peak.
