Additional Information: | GREEK REVIVAL DOORWAY W/PILASTERS AND MOULDED CORNICE. WOOD SILL AND LINTEL COURSES. SIDE 1ST FLR ORIEL. WAS ORIGINALLY PART OF A PHEASANT FARM. C.F.Boerner came from Oldenburg, Germany about 1842. Had 3 stores in Charleston, South Carolina. Sent money to friends in Cedarburg to secure purchases of land for family and friends coming from Oldenburg, Germany. C.F.Boerner married Helena Hussman in 1844 in Charleston, SC. They had 6 children, 5 died young, 1 lived through adulthood. Helena passed after settling in Cedarburg. C.F. Boerner then married Anna Vosteen, they had 9 children, 7 lived to adulthood. C.F. was a farmer but upon coming to Cedarburg, continued his occupation as a grocer, eventually passing it to his sons, and then resuming working the farm. C.F. Boerner passed away in 1878. Anna passed in 1922. The children sold the farm in the late 1930s and the Boerner Bros stores. |
