Additional Information: | City of Green Bay, Wisconsin - Architectural and Historical Intensive Survey Report Phase 1 - 2021 1998- Green Bay Organizational Maintenance Shop (OMS in Army Reserve terminology) consists of one building on an approximately 6,000 square foot site. The area immediately surrounding the building is covered by asphalt or concrete. The land has been heavily altered by construction activities and grading for parking areas. The facility is located in a commercial area. The building is in good condition and does not appear to have been altered since its original construction. It does not exhibit any significant historical or architectural character or merit. The building functions as a vehicle maintenance facility. Constructed circa 1959, it is a one-story rectangular building that rests on a poured concrete foundation and has concrete block walls. A metal overhead-retractable bay door is located on the east wall and a wooden overhead-retractable bay door is located on the south wall. Metal pedestrian doors are located on the east and south walls. A flat-roofed awning with corbeled concrete block supports protect a metal pedestrian door and one eight-light window on the east wall. A flat roof covers the structure. A records search at the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office revealed no archaeological sites located within a one-mile radius of the facility. Green Bay OMS property has been heavily disturbed by construction activities, with much of the property paved or graded. An on-site assessment determined that there is a low probability of extant archaeological remains on the property. |
