NOTES
Additional Information:1998-
Hurley USARC consists of one building located on 4.3 acres of land in Hurley, Wisconsin. The federal government leases the property for use as an Army Reserve training center.

The area immediately surrounding the building is covered by asphalt or concrete, with some small grass covered buffer areas. Facility construction and previous use of the property as part of an iron-mining complex have significantly altered the land. A mining shaft is located near the Reserve Center. The facility is located within the Carey Industrial Park Development.

A records search at the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office revealed no recorded archaeological sites within a one-mile radius of the facility. Hurley USARC property has been heavily disturbed by construction activities and previous operations of the Carey Mine. A majority of the terrain is covered by asphalt pavement and has been graded for industrial use. An on-site assessment determined that there is a low probability of extant archaeological remains on the property.

The Reserve Center building functions as an administrative and vehicle maintenance facility for Hurley USARC. Constructed in 1960, it is a rectangular building with a 1½-story vehicle maintenance area and a one-story administrative area separated by a concrete block firewall. The building rests on a poured concrete foundation and has concrete block walls. A metal overhead-retractable bay door and a metal pedestrian door is located on the east and west walls of the vehicle maintenance area. Metal pedestrian doors and sliding windows are located on the east and west walls of the administrative area. Moderate-pitched gable roofs cover the structure.

The building is in good condition and does not appear to have been altered since its original construction. It does not exhibit any significant architectural character or merit.
