Additional Information: | 1998- Junction City USARC consists of two buildings (a training building and a vehical maintenance shop) located on six acres of land in Junction City, Wisconsin. The area immediately surrounding the facility is covered with asphalt pavement or landscaped with lawn. The facility is located in a rural area. A records search at the Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office revealed four archaeological sites (47-PT-185, 47-PT-184, 47-PT-183, and 47-PT-182) within a one-mile radius of the facility. Junction City USARC property was previously used as farmland. A majority of the property is currently paved or graded. An on-site assessment determined that there is a low probability of extant archaeological remains on the property. The maintenance shop (Organizational Maintenance Shop or OMS in Army Reserve terminology) functions as a vehicle maintenance facility for Junction City USARC. Constructed in 1978, it is a one-story concrete block building with a brown brick veneer that rests on a poured concrete foundation. Two metal overhead-retractable bay doors and two metal pedestrian doors are located on the north wall. A flat roof covers the structure. The building is in good condition and there appears to have been no additions or alterations since its original construction. It does not exhibit any architectural character or merit. |
