Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. 1998- Menasha USARC consists of two buildings located on 2.21 acres of land in Menasha, Wisconsin. The area immediately surrounding the facility is covered by asphalt or concrete, with some landscaped areas. The land has been significantly altered by construction activities and grading for parking areas. The facility is located in a residential/recreational area near the mouth of the Fox River. Menasha USARC consists of a training building and a vehicle maintenance shop (Organizational Maintenance Shop or OMS in Army Reserve terminology). The buildings are in good condition and do not appear to have been extensively modified since their original construction. Neither of the buildings exhibit significant architectural character or merit. The training building functions as an administrative and drill facility for Menasha USARC. The Reserve Center was originally constructed in 1959 as a 1?-story rectangular administration building. In 1960, a 1?-story drill hall was constructed and connected to the administration building by a one-story enclosed corridor. The Reserve Center rests on a poured concrete foundation and has concrete block walls. A recessed entrance is located on the north wall of the one-story administration section and a single metal pedestrian door is located on the west wall of the corridor. A metal overhead-retractable bay door and a single metal pedestrian door are located on the west wall of the drill hall. Windows are located on the north and south walls of both administration sections. Flat roofs cover the structure. 2009--No apparent exterior changes since 1998 survey. |
