| Additional Information: | 1998- Milwaukee USARC consists of 24 buildings located on 126.76 acres of land in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Beech and Maple forest cover eleven acres of the property. The property has been significantly altered, with a capped landfill occupying part of the land. Lincoln Creek bisects the property. The creek has been artificially channeled and no longer follows its natural path. Asphalt, concrete, or open lawn areas cover the cantonment area of the Milwaukee USARC. The northern portion of the site, outside the cantonment area, is heavily disturbed by continual use as a prison and military site. The Milwaukee USARC is located in a significantly disturbed, urban area. The facility is owned by the U.S. Government and controlled by the 88th RSC. All of the buildings are in good condition and range in date of construction from 1945 to the present (1998). Several buildings have been constructed, altered, or demolished during the development of the facility. None of the buildings exhibit significant architectural character or merit. Building 312 is a vehicel maintenance shop (Organizational Maintenance Shop or OMS in Army Reserve terminology) constructed in 1956. The structure rests on a concrete foundation and has concrete block walls. Five metal overhead-retractable bay doors are located on the west wall. Fenestrations consist of double-hung windows on the north and south walls and tripartite windows on the east wall. A low-pitch shed roof covers the structure. |
