Additional Information: | 1998- The Sheboygan USARC consists of two buildings located on four acres of land in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The area immediately surrounding the buildings is mostly covered by asphalt or concrete, with a landscaped area near the buildings and an open grassy area to the rear of the property. The land has been significantly altered by construction activities and grading for the parking areas. The facility is located in a mixed-use commercial-residential area. The facility is owned by the U.S. Government and controlled by the 88th RSC. The Sheboygan USARC consists of a training building and a maintenance building (OPrganizational Maintenance Shop or OMS in Army Reserve terminology). The buildings are in good condition and do not appear to have been significantly modified since their original construction. Neither of them exhibit significant architectural character or merit. The training building functions as an administrative drill facility for the Reserve Center. Constructed in 1958, it is an irregular-shaped building composed of a one-story rectangular administration section connected to a 1½-story rectangular drill hall by a one-story enclosed corridor. The Reserve Center rests on a poured concrete foundation and has concrete block walls with a brick veneer. A recessed entrance with a pedestrian door and windows is located on the north wall of the administration section. A paired pedestrian door is located on the west wall of the administrative section. Windows are located around the perimeter of the administrative section. A metal overhead-retractable bay door and a metal pedestrian door are located on the east wall of the drill hall. A mid-slope chimney is located toward the west half of the administrative section. Low-pitch gable roofs cover the structure. |
