Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. The road was washed out sometime in the 1920s, necessitating closure. According to one informant (Earl Opicka), one of Roosevelt's work progress teams worked on the road in the 1930s and the road was reopened. Comparisons with historic photos indicate that Clyde Hill Road has been significantly reconfigured including alteration of hill grade, change in a curve, and conversion of road surface from gravel to cement. |
