It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. The brick academy building has had some Adams Revival detailing. THIS ASTYLISTIC UTILITARIAN STYLE BUILDING WAS BUILT IN 1929 TO A DESIGN BY THE CHICAGO ARCHITECTURAL FIRM OF SCHMIDT, GARDEN, & ERICKSON. IT WAS BUILT AS THE POWER PLANT FOR THE ADJACENT BUILDINGS OCCUPIED BY THE ROMAN CATHOLIC GIRL'S SCHOOL KNOWN AS ST. MARY'S SPRINGS ACADEMY. THE BUILDING CONTINUED IN USE FOR MANY YEARS,BUT ITS TALL BRICK CHIMNEY WAS DEMOLISHED IN 1990 AND IT WAS NOT IN USE WHEN SURVEYED IN 2002. THE BUILDING WAS DEMOLISHED IN 2005. THE LAND THAT IS OCCUPIED BY THE ACADEMY HAS BEEN ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF FOND DU LAC SINCE IT WAS FIRST SURVEYED IN 1974. |
