Additional Information: | The former administration building originally was located in the former brigade headquarters area near Building 101. The July 1927 Wisconsin National Guard Review reported that "the most attractive building that has gone up in the past year is the Administration building, located east of the house formerly used as the camp adjutant's office. In the west end of the building is a large room for the commanding officer's office. The same size room in the east room is the office of the adjutant's working force. Connecting these two are offices for the camp adjutant, camp inspector and surgeon in the same office, senior army officer." The building was moved to the simulated training village established in 1992 north of the runway. The wood-frame building occupies a U-shaped footprint. The main section of the building is one-story with one-and-one-half-story, front-projecting wings. The exterior walls are clad with wide horizontal aluminum siding that replaced asphalt shingle siding shown in a 1955 photograph. The intersecting gable roofs are sheathed with composition roll. Wood finials ornament the front and rear gables of the westernmost wing. The front elevation has six window and two door openings that are boarded up. The easternmost gable has an exterior wood stairway leading to a doorway in the upper gable. A porch spans the area between the projecting gables. The building currently is used as a training aid. |
