Additional Information: | The one-story, wood-frame building is sited on a hillside at the base of a bluff. The building was constructed in the early 1900s as a summer residence for the Governor, who traditionally attended one weekend of the Wisconsin National Guard summer encampment. The residence originally was located near the front gate of the camp. It was moved to a second location and then, in 1955, the residence was moved to its present location and placed on a raised concrete-block foundation. The exterior walls are clad in wide horizontal wood siding. The porches on the northwest and southwest elevation were added after 1955 and are enclosed with aluminum siding. The intersecting gable roofs are sheathed in composition shingles. The eaves are metal clad. The front gable contains a louvered vent. One interior brick chimney stack projects from the center of the roof. The windows and doors are modern replacement units. A picture window occupies the northeast elevation. |
