Additional Information: | Contsruction date from Assessor's records. 1932 Directory cites Emil Dunst Grocery & Meats. Side address is 2190 S. 66th Street. 2019: This two-and-one-half-story commercial vernacular building was constructed in 1928 and originally functioned as a grocery store.5 It has a rectangular footprint, brick cladding, and hipped roof with dormers. The building has three entrances, two at the southwest corner for the current first floor tavern/bar, and one centered on the west elevation accessing stairs to the second floor living space(s). The latter entryway has a round arch opening with an accompanying decorative round arch hood. The door is wood paneled with a fanlight and side lights. The two entrances at the southwest corner of the building are modern aluminum framed glass doors with awnings. Along the first story of the south elevation is a bank of four large fixed windows with an awning and glass block bulkhead. The building’s second story has pairs of one-over-one replacement sash windows with stone sills spaced at regular intervals. The windows at the southwest corner are smaller with metal balcony railings. |
