| Additional Information: | The 1955 block had an approximate cost of $25,000, while the 1972 addition cost $75,000. The builder of the latter addition was Roth & Taplin. 2020: "This one-story former meeting hall was constructed in 1955. According to its WHPD record, the Contemporary-style concrete block building was designed by Milwaukee architect Carl Riemenschneider. A rear addition in 1972 doubled the size of the building’s footprint. The original front portion of the building consists of two box-like sections at different heights with widely overhanging flat roofs. The slightly taller, east section has a set of three singlelight windows on the façade, each within a recessed full-height vertical bay enframed in brick. These window openings previously had sets of three awning windows. Similar sets of awning windows on the side, east elevation also been replaced with single-light units. Also on the east, side elevation is a modern patio addition, which is walled off to the south by the rear addition. The shorter, west section of the building includes a recessed front entryway enframed in brick and a narrow band of five fixed windows beneath the roof’s overhang. The rear addition is mostly windowless. The building currently functions as a bar/restaurant." |
