Historical research indicates that the Congressional Church in Embarrass was organized in 1883 and the church was completed by 1887. In 1912, a concrete block foundation replaced the original stone foundation. Regular services ceased in the church in 1966 and the Embarrass Congregational Church merged with Christ Congregational Church in Clintonville. The church building was sold in 1976 and converted to a residence.
