THE NEWBURG SCHOOL, KNOWN ORIGINALLY AS JOINT SCHOOL NO. 3 IS SIGNIFICANT LOCALLY AS NEWSBURG'S ONLY PUBLIC SCHOOL FROM 1902 WHEN IT WAS BUILT TO 1962 WHEN THE DISTRICT WAS MERGED INTO THE NORTHERN OZAUKEE DISTRICT AND THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED, THE NEWBURG SCHOOL IS AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF AN EARLY GRADED SCHOOL, BUILT WITH TWO OR THREE CLASSROOMS, AND APPEARS TO BE THE FIRST ELELMENTARY SCHOOL IN THE AREA WHICH WAS BUILT AS A RESPONSE TO THE 1901 ACT WHICH PROVIDED STATE AIDS TO SCHOOLS WITH MORE THAN ONE ROOM.
