Additional Information: | Another map code for this building is WT 20/11, found on the DOT West Bend map. This one story church structure is designed in the Gothic Revival style. Noted gothic revival elements include the pointed arch openings, which appear througout the building, and the steeply pitched rooflines. The main recessed entrace is housed within a large, central projecting tower whose steeple contains a cornerstone and clockfaces from the concregation's first church. This tower is further distinguished by a circular window, corbelled brickwork, a band course, rock faced limestone corner quoins, and corner butresses. Smaller, two-story polygonal towers flank the square entrance steeple. These towers are each capped by a hip roof. The main gabled roof is steeply pitched and accented by parapets. Buttresses appear once again at the side elevations and echo the style of those found on the central tower or steeple. The church is in fair condition. It was constructed with an irregular shaped plan configuration, a stone foundation, a brick exterior, a stone and brick trim and an asbestos shingled gable roof. The rectory for this church is located at 404 Jefferson (see WT 20/12, AHI# 0014720). (Other photo codes of the related structure include: WT 49/32, WT 49/33, WT 49/34, WT 49/36, and WT 49/37). |
