| Additional Information: | The Log House was erected by John Whitney Ormsby during the 1870s or 1880s. An earlier log cabin previously stood on the site. The current structure has a two-story gabled section that is set perpendicular to a one-story gabled rear section. Wood shingles form geometric patters in the gable ends. A one-story clapboard kitchen with vented pyramidal roof is attached to the west elevation of the one-story section. A one-story shed-roof porch dating from the early 20th century appears on the east elevation. The structure rests on a fieldstone foundation. The main entrance is sheltered with a gable portico on round timbers. The window surrounds are dinstinctive, with the sides of each wooden architrave extending well above the lintel. |
