Karow Hatchery and Egg Farm is a farmstead developed in the mid twentieth century as a chicken hatchery and egg farm. The outbuildings are all related to the production of chickens and eggs except for the large concrete-block garage, a building that is related to a side business of Arthur Karow. The house was the home of Arthur and Lulu Karow. The contributing buildings are desclibed below. [The farmstead consists of the house [140399], hatchery building [150761], laying house [150764], granary [150763], poultry barn [150762], corn crib [150765], sales shed [150766], and the Karow Brothers Garage [150767]]. Granary, c.1955 [150763] The granary was built in the mid-1950s to house feed. It is a tall, two-story structure with a steeply pitched gable roof topped with an enclosed cupola. The entire roof is covered with metal panels, and the walls are clad with horizontal galvanized metal siding. The building has a concrete foundation and irregular openings. The large openings are on the south and north elevations and the north opening still has its original wood board sliding door. The south elevation opening is filled with a modem metal commercial style garage door. An additional opening in the south elevation is covered with an original wood board sliding door." -"Arthur M.
