NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' (Saint Robert Church Complex) exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History.

THIS SCHOOL HAS THREE SECTIONS, THE ORIGINAL FRONT SECTION WHICH ONCE HOUSED THE CHURCH AND SCHOOL, A MIDDLE SECTION ADDED IN 1927 (which doubled the size of the building), AND A CONTEMPORARY REAR SECTION ADDED IN 1958.

2008- "The St. Robert Catholic Church complex consists of the church (AHI 8831), a convent (AHI 150827), a school (AHI 150826), and a rectory (AHI 150828).

The original St Robert School was constructed in 1914 as both a school and a church auditorium. The original building sits at the
front of the current building and was added to in both 1927 and 1958. There have been some alterations to the original building, but
its overall form and massing and its Classical Revival influenced design are intact.

The 1914 section of tlle building is two stories in height witl1 a rectangular plan and two narrow entry pavilions that project from the
east and west walls toward the south end of the building. The flat roof has a parapet accented by a stone cornice decorated with
modillions. The original openings punctuating the dark red brick walls were filled with primarily four-over-four-light double-hung
sashes, but they have been removed in favor of a partially enclosed opening with modern four-light windows. The main entrance was
originally on ilie south elevation, but it has been removed in favor of tlle two side entrances in the entry pavilions. These entrances
consist of double wood and glass doors under vertically divided transoms decorated with heavy flat stone lintels. Above the entrances
are paired windows that are partially enclosed, under an enclosed arched transom.

The addition to the original school and church building was completed in 1927 and doubled the size of the building. The addition has
identical details to the original building. In 1958, a modem addition was added to tlte rear elevation. It is two-stories in height with a
flat roof and its walls are constructed of lighter red brick The walls are divided by plain, narrow concrete pilasters and very small,
narrow window bands run on each floor between the pilasters. The doors are modem metal doors with large transoms."
